Membership – PRICE FREEZE

5 March 2009

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) has announced that it will be freezing membership fees for 2009/10, to help and support businesses during the current economic downturn.

Established in April 2004 LBTB has seen its membership grow to almost 300 businesses from accommodation providers and attractions, galleries to castles, parks to stately homes, with LBTB offering support, advice, training and advocacy at the highest levels;  directly influencing the regional and national strategy of the UK’s visitor economy.

Commenting on the price freeze, Mike Wilkinson, LBTB Chief Executive said

“With more people holidaying at home in 2009, LBTB is putting all its efforts into ensuring Lancashire and Blackpool are in their plans for a holiday or short break.

“For the last five years we have worked purposefully to raise awareness of the region attracting success through campaigns such as Taste Lancashire 08, which achieved over £1.1million of press coverage and have set standards for customer care training, with LBTB leading the North West on Welcome To Excellence skills training.

“This year we’ll be seizing every opportunity to ensure that positive messages about Lancashire and Blackpool reach the wider world, at a time when our Members and stakeholders need our expertise and innovation more than ever. This price freeze along with a new package of marketing benefits valued in excess of £1400, means membership is now even better value.”

Membership cost from as little as £82 (up to £400) and this year will give Members access to marketing campaigns directed at group and overseas markets, traditional family holidaymakers, cyclists and walkers, as well as night time revellers.

In February around sixty Members attended the first Members’ Meeting of 2009.  Hailed as the ‘Best Yet’ it focused on getting the most out of membership, with presentations by guest ‘experts’ in marketing innovation, green savings and costs management. Members’ Meetings are held quarterly, each one responding to issues and opportunities relating to tourism business.
