Highly commended for LBTB’s in house digital team

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) was shortlisted for two awards in the Don’t Panic Social Media Awards and came away with the Highly Commended award for Best In-House Team, at a ceremony last night (Thursday 09 December) at The Hilton Hotel, Deansgate,  Manchester.

The event was attended by over 300 social media and  communications professionals from          across the UK and was hosted by broadcaster and radio presenter, Andy Crane.

Finalists in the Best In-House Team category included: BBC Digital Communications, Monmouthshire City Council, Sussex Safer Roads Partnership and the winners on the night, Coventry City Council.

The SomeComms Awards 2010 celebrates the best in UK social media communications, recognising the individuals and companies revolutionising the use of online to ‘communicate in cool and innovative ways’. The judging panel, included some of the most influential names in UK social media, and shortlisted LBTB’s blackpoolthemovie.com created with design agency Designate, in the Public Sector Award category as well as the Board’s digital team, for the Best In House Team Award.  LBTB’s consumer website visitlancashire.com was re-launched in 2009 and averages 75,000 unique visitors per month, is growing at a rate of over 30% per month, and is heading towards one million unique visitors per year. In August 2010 visitlancashire.com enjoyed almost 90,000 unique visitors to the site – its highest ever recorded number of visitors, almost doubling the average 2009 figure. 

LBTB’s digital team comprises Cilla Lowe, New Media Executive and Amy Colgan, Digital Information Co-Ordinator. Sarah Lundy, LBTB former e-marketing manager, who completed the team of three, recently took up the new role as Blackpool Cluster Marketing Manager for Merlin.
