LANCASHIRE AND BLACKPOOL TOURIST BOARD ANNOUNCES 2010/11 TOURISM AWARDS SHORTLIST

Today (23 March), Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) announced the shortlist for the Tourism Awards 2010/11, from a record-breaking number of entries.

LBTB’s annual Tourism Awards recognise high achieving tourism businesses across 14 categories, including the much coveted Taste Lancashire Award, for quality eating establishments and the new for 2010/11, Online Marketing Award.

The awards are supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).

Having successfully completed the new simplified ‘expression of interest form’ shortlisted businesses will now submit final applications, for consideration by a panel of invited experts and industry professionals.

The winners in each category will be announced at the awards ceremony being held this year

at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Nr Accrington on Wednesday 9 June 2010.

Tony Openshaw, LBTB Director of Marketing said “This year, perhaps more than ever, we’re delighted by the enthusiasm our colleagues across the industry have expressed in the Tourism Awards, with more entries than ever before.  Throughout the challenges of the economic downturn, tourism businesses have continued to move forward and innovate; constantly looking to improve levels of customer service, the quality of their product and working together to exploit the opportunities presented by the renewed interest in the Great British Holiday.

“The shortlist reveals the frontrunners in each field, amidst an increasingly impressive range of applications. Thank you to all those who did take time to apply and the very best of luck to those who are now embarking on this year’s awards journey.”
