Preston Guild Media Launch

13 February 2012

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) is pleased to announce that the very first of its new Taste Lancashire Produce evenings will take place at The Millstone at Mellor, on Thursday 23 February.

These new dining events will help demonstrate the abundance of superb produce available across Lancashire and the creativity and talent of our local chefs. Guests will enjoy a locally sourced, three course dinner for £20 and get to meet and hear from one of the producers who has contributed to this special Taste Lancashire menu.

Darwen-born chef Danny Holder has been part of the kitchen crew at The Millstone for nine years, where he has worked his way up to the position of sous chef; he is now charged with delivering the tourist board’s first Taste Lancashire Produce evening.  Danny’s inspired menu follows:

Starters

Salmon and Prawn Ravioli, Tomato Consommé & Tomato and Basil Jelly

Or

Twice Baked Carron Lodge Lancashire Cheese & Spinach Soufflé

Mains

Curwin Hill Pork Cheek Pudding, Slow Roast Pork Belly, R.S Ireland Black Pudding Mash & Parsnip Puree

Or

Confit of Goosnargh Duck Leg, Creamed Curly Kale and Smoked Bacon with Herb Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes

Desserts

White Chocolate and Carrot Fondant, Dark chocolate Sorbet

Or

Rhubarb Fool, Brulee & Ripple

The Millstone’s Chef-Patron, Anson Bolton commenting on Danny’s menu choices said

“Danny’s menu expresses his real passion for food and for creating new dishes. He has a special gift for desserts but Danny has utilised all The Millstone’s local suppliers and created a menu that is seasonal, inspiring and Lancashire through and through. I’m sure diners will enjoy the tourist board’s new Taste Lancashire produce events and the opportunity to meet some of the county’s great food heroes, who nurture or grow our unbeatable Lancashire produce.”

Diners can book their place for The Millstone’s Taste Lancashire Produce event, taking place on Thursday 23 February, by calling The Millstone on Tel: 01254 813333.  Early booking advised

As part of a new programme of activity to raise the profile of Lancashire produce, LBTB has developed and will promote a series of Taste Lancashire Produce evenings. The restaurants and producers will benefit directly from the income generated by consumers attending these events and through the creation, sourcing and celebration of these special Lancashire menus.

The marketing of this event forms part of the Food Connect programme, for which LBTB has secured funding from the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).  The funding is to support food tourism activities, which includes the marketing of events which bring together suppliers, chefs, restauranteurs and customers, to demonstrate the breadth of local food on offer in Lancashire and the skills that can create exciting and ‘mouth watering’ dishes.
