Lancashire Day – Where Life Feels Good

13 November 2014

Lancashire Day is celebrated on 27 November, marking the day in 1295 when King Edward I invited Lancashire’s first representatives to attend Parliament. Today this historic event is marked not only by the reading of the proclamation but also by numerous events and activities taking place across the county to celebrate all things Lancashire.

To help raise awareness and encourage promotion of Lancashire Day across the UK, Marketing Lancashire has launched a social media campaign, inviting proud Lancastrians and visitors to share images that best illustrate the Visit Lancashire strap line #WhereLifeFeelsGood. The campaign will run throughout the month until Sunday 30 November and will be a showcase of everything that’s ‘feelgood’ about Lancashire, revealed through a gallery of photographs on VisitLancashire.com uploaded by the public via Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.

A panel of judges will then consider the final gallery and select a winner whose image captures the essence of our picturesque, life-enhancing and diverse county.

The winner will receive a fabulous prize of an *Overnight Tasting Break for Two at Northcote, **A Year’s Supply of Dewlay Lancashire Cheese and A Year Subscription to Lancashire Life.

During Lancashire Day (27 November) those uploading images or sharing messages using #LancashireDay and #WhereLifeFeelsGood, may be the lucky recipient of several spot prizes and surprises throughout the day.

In 2013 #Lancashireday reached over 13 million people, with visitlancashire the top influencer and #LancashireDay trending across the UK by early morning.

Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said “More people than ever are sharing their travel experiences or days-out through social media channels, making locations all over the world much more accessible. In 2013 we reached over 13 million people through our Lancashire Day activities and this year we would like to go even further.  There are so many wonderful places, life-enhancing activities, inspiring views and delicious things to enjoy in Lancashire; this campaign will provide the world with an insight into why life really does feel good in Lancashire and hopefully inspire more people to visit and experience our famous hospitality for themselves.”

Whether it’s your favourite view on a walk with your dog, or cycling through stunning countryside, beachcombing with the kids or a Hotpot and pint with friends in your local, it’s easy to join in – just take a photo or video of your ‘feelgood’ Lancashire and upload it to Facebook or Flickr, or Tweet using the hashtags #Lancashireday #WhereLifeFeelsGood.
