Nominate Your Tourism Superstar 2016

16 August 2016

Marketing Lancashire is scouring the county for Lancashire’s Tourism Superstar 2016.  The award for Tourism Superstar is one of 19 awards that will be presented at this year’s ceremony being held at Blackburn Cathedral, the Cathedral of Lancashire on Thursday 10 November.  This particular award recognises those who make a special contribution to tourism and make a significant impact on the visitor experience of Lancashire.

The public, as well as tourism colleagues across the county, are invited to submit their suggestions via the short online nomination form on www.lancashiretourismawards.com by the deadline of Monday 5 September.  A shortlist will be drawn up from all the nominations received by this date, with the successful finalists then going to public vote.

This is the only Lancashire Tourism Award that is decided by the public via an online vote.  This award was introduced in 2014 and previous winners include: BBC Radio presenter John ‘Gilly’ Gillmore 2015 and Sandcastle Waterpark’s Guest Service and Inclusion Manager, Sue Copp 2014.

Anna Izza, Head of PR and Communications of Marketing Lancashire said, “The winner of this year’s Tourism Superstar will join a very special group of individuals who make a huge difference to the visitor experience of Lancashire. Gilly and Sue have both been called to the Lancashire Tourism Awards stage to receive an award, as well as the applause and gratitude of tourism businesses from all over the county.

“They have both made a big contribution to the success of Lancashire’s visitor economy, whether that’s through impeccable customer service, bringing to life the county’s fascinating history or by sharing the county’s people and places with the wider world, they epitomise what’s truly great about Lancashire.”

A shortlist will be announced during the week commencing 26 September at which point the general public will be encouraged to vote for their Lancashire Tourism Awards Superstar 2016.

Following a public vote the top three will be invited to attend the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2016 being held on Thursday 10 November Blackburn Cathedral, the Cathedral of Lancashire where the ultimate winner will be announced.
