Time to Enter LBTB Tourism Awards

TOURISM AWARDS – IT’S NEVER BEEN EASIER TO ENTER

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) is looking for winners and there’s never been an easier time to enter our annual celebration, to recognise the very best tourism businesses in Lancashire and Blackpool.

The LBTB Tourism Awards are the county’s premier tourism awards, leading to the Northwest regional awards, with the chance of progression to the much-coveted national Enjoy England Excellence Awards – the tourism ‘oscars’.

With a choice of 14 categories from Bed & Breakfast of the Year to Best Tourism Experience, the first step towards success is now the completion of a simple ‘expression of interest’ form. Having listened to previous entrants the process has been reviewed, is less time-consuming and once through this first shortlisting, businesses will be offered additional support with the final application.

“We recognise we have many winning tourism businesses” comments Tony Openshaw, LBTB Director of Marketing “It takes hard work and commitment to make any business succeed and entering awards is often not a priority. In order to take that pressure off, we’ve made entering a lot easier and will support businesses throughout the process. Previous award-winners know that the rewards that follow a win at local, regional or national level are well worth the short time it now takes to kickstart the award process.”

Entry to the awards is FREE (certain criteria apply) with initial expressions of interest required by Monday 8th March 2010. The awards will be presented this year, at the Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa, Clayton-Le-Moors on Wednesday 9 June 2010.

Three winners of the LBTB Awards 2009/10 have since been successful at regional level and are now on the national award longlist; Blackpool Illuminations (Tourism Event), The Ashton, Lancaster (Bed & Breakfast), Farmaggedon, Ormskirk (Best Tourism Experience) have all benefited from the additional PR, recognition and business that results from being a part of the LBTB Tourism Awards.

This year, a new Online Marketing Award had been added to the categories.  This is a special award which does not progress to regional or national awards, but recognises the significance of internet-based marketing to today’s forward-thinking tourism businesses.
