BLACKPOOL ZOO TO HOST WORLD RECORD WINE TASTING ATTEMPT

A Guiness World Record attempt for the largest simultaneous wine tasting in the world will take place at Blackpool Zoo on Sunday 20th November.

Prestigious North West wine supplier Vicomte Bernard de Romanet will team up with parent company WIV Wein International AG in Germany and its 40 independent companies across the globe at 11.00am GMT to try and beat the current record, which is held by JD Wetherspoon and stands at 17540 people in 409 pubs across the UK.

Events will also take place across the UK as well as in the USA, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Tunisia and Spain.

Participants will also be given free entry to Blackpool Zoo, which is home to more than 1500 animals from across the world.

Ian Arnold, Vicomte Bernard de Romanet Sales Manager for the North West, said: “We are very excited about our world record attempt and the invited guests will be asked to taste three different wines.

“We would like to thank Blackpool Zoo for allowing us to use their unique venue and throughout the morning we will be holding a raffle to win some of our wonderful wines and donating all proceeds to the zoo.”

Vicomte Bernard de Romanet is based in Warrington and covers the whole of the North West Region, including North Wales and Anglesey. It has operated in the UK for more than 40 years and offers customers the chance to taste wines of the world from the comfort of their own home. The company is part of WIV Wein International AG, which is the largest direct wine selling company in the world.

Blackpool Zoo is owned by Parques Reunidos, the second largest European leisure parks operator and a leading world-wide player. The zoo is home to over 1,500 mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates set amidst thirty-two acres of mature woodland and lakes. 

The zoo’s signature animals include elephants, giraffes, big cats, gorillas, orang-utans, sea lions, primates, zebras and kangaroos. It is open every day of the year, apart from Christmas Day, from 10am.
