Lancashire Visitor Guide 2011 - Out Now!

Monday, 7th February 2011

Lancashire Visitor Guide 2011Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board (LBTB) is aiming to increase visitors to Lancashire and Blackpool, with the publication and distribution of the new Lancashire Visitor Guide 2011 which at 100 pages includes more information than ever before.

The initial print run of 35,000 will be used to target potential visitors via direct mail, tourist information centres, tourism businesses, as well as through tourist board attendance at consumer and travel trade exhibitions across the country. It is also available in digital format, opening the county to over 700,000 potential consumers on

The guide embodies the new Lancashire brand ‘where life feels good’, with features on invigorating and inspiring outdoor activities, places to explore and enthrall, historic halls and cherished hideaways.  Take a rollercoaster ride or just kick back and reflect on life’s simple pleasures, whatever you choose Lancashire has it covered.

LBTB Chief Executive, Mike Wilkinson, speaking about the guide said “This is the most comprehensive guide produced by the tourist board and we feel it captures the essence of what it feels like to visit and stay in Lancashire.  This year’s spring campaign will focus on our great countryside and the increasing importance of green tourism, when it comes to choosing a short break or holiday in the UK.

“The ‘staycation’ inspired many families to rediscover the traditional holidays of their own youth and with our summer campaign, we focus on families and the wealth of activities and entertainment available across the county.  Our aim is to demonstrate that seaside or countryside visitors need look no further than Lancashire and Blackpool for choice, quality and good value holidays.”

Highlights of the guide include: an interview with Sophie Leadsom, Reserve Manager, at Lancashire’s newest nature reserve Brockholes, who recently featured on BBC’s Countryfile; a range of new car-free itineraries, that help champion the county’s commitment to green tourism; food talk from Great British Menu winner and Northcote head chef, Lisa Allen; an insight into Blackpool’s world famous light show from Richard Ryan, Blackpool Illuminations Manager, who last year collected  the Enjoy England Excellence Award for Best Tourism Event 2010.

Most recent industry figures show that Lancashire and Blackpool attracts 58 million visitors, who contribute £3 billion to the local economy and support over 54,000 jobs.
