Flog It! comes to The Blackpool Tower Circus

Wednesday, 26th September 2012

The popular BBC2 antiques programme Flog It! presented by Paul Martin, is coming to Blackpool.

Flog It! – the major BBC2 antiques series – regularly gets an audience of two million viewers each weekday.

The Blackpool Tower Circus will be hosting the Flog It! Valuation Day.  Rather like a treasure hunt, members of the public are invited to bring along up to three antiques and collectables they might be interested in selling. Once valued, the owner and a team of experts decide whether an item should go forward for auction.  If the item is chosen it is sold a few weeks later – often with the owner making a tidy sum.  Everyone who goes along to the Valuation Day will receive a free valuation – even if their antiques are not chosen to go forward for auction.

Previous programmes have seen a ceramic bowl, bought for £4 at a car boot sale, achieving £1,500; and a lady in Aberdeen sold a Shelley tea set for a huge £3,400! We’ve also surprised a gentleman who brought in a ceremonial cup; it later sold for a phenomenal £44,000!

Once visitors to the Flog It! valuation day have had their items valued they are being offered complimentary admission to the world famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

Heidi Ellert, Series Producer says “Paul Martin and the entire Flog It! team are really pleased to be bringing the show to Blackpool. The Circus will provide the perfect setting for our valuation day event, it is a stunning and very historic location; our experts are all looking forward to offering people the chance to have their items valued in the arena of this iconic attraction. We all hope you will join us for a free valuation, if you’ve ever wondered how much your boot sale bargains or clutter in the loft might be worth, now is your chance to find out.”

Iain Hawkins, Head of Merlin Entertainments’ Blackpool Cluster, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Flog It! To The Blackpool Tower Circus. It’s such an iconic venue that will look stunning on television and we hope everyone who comes down on the day has a fantastic time.”

Flog It! will be at the Blackpool Tower Circus, Bank Hey Street, Lancashire, FY1 4BJ on Friday 19th October from 09:30am until 4:00pm. The items selected at the valuation day will be sold at Gerrards Auction Rooms, St Georges Road, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 2AE on Thursday 8th November.

The editions of Flog It! recorded at The Blackpool Tower Circus will be broadcast as part of the twelfth series of the antiques show.
