Obsession Food Festival – Incredible line up

21 January 2013

Northcote’s food and wine festival, ‘Obsession’ starts today Monday (21st January) for the 13th time; showcasing great chefs, a celebration of fine food and a gathering of friends.

The 10 day event takes place at the Michelin Starred restaurant, Northcote, Lancashire, in which culinary experts showcase their skills, creating a unique menu.

Nigel Haworth, Chef Patron of Northcote commented, “For me, it is the most exciting time of the year. 10 days of Obsession; a meeting of top chefs, great ingredients and wines of excellence all under on roof. The festival provides the platform for regional produce to meet some of the best chefs in the country, Europe and the world. The great ambassadors of Lancashire produce; Reg Johnson, Goosnargh Duck; Peter Ascroft, Hesketh Bank to cheese makers Bob Kitching and Graham Kirkham. It is exciting times!”

Obsession13 has an eclectic line up with Bruno Loubet, a Frenchman cooking in England; Dieter Koschina, an Austrian cooking in Portugal; ); Cyrus Todiwala, an Indian cooking in England; Tom Catherall, a Brit cooking in the USA; Agnar Sverrisson, an Icelander cooking in London; and Anna Hansen MBE , a Canadian cooking in London. And then there are Phil Howard, Lisa Allen, Ashley Palmer-Watts and, of course, Nigel Haworth who are Brits who have not wandered too far from their home turf. All in all, the talent adds up to a galaxy of Michelin stars and several cabinets of other awards.

Commenting on the build up to Obsession13, Craig Bancroft, Managing Director of Northcote, “Thirteen wonderful years of pairing food and wine for some of the greatest chefs in the business and this year is no exception. We have sourced over 60 different wines from all over the globe making.  We have some real edgy combinations and we’re using some different styles; a cider made by the Champagne method and an orange Armagnac with a chocolate dessert. The enthusiasm from the wine team led by Adam Pawlowski is at fever pitch and we are eager to get started.”

The food and wine festival is sponsored by Louis Roederer; The Wright Wine Company; Cardboard Box Company; Eblex; Villeroy & Boch and Baxter Storey.
