The SPA Hotel at Ribby Hall Village receives go-ahead for £500,000 expansion plans

Carole Pilling, Senior Accommodation Manager at the multi-award-winning Ribby Hall Village has confirmed this week that after recently receiving planning permission, initial ground works to extend The SPA Hotel and enhance its offering have now commenced.

The SPA Hotel at Ribby Hall Village has scooped many an award, including ‘2013 Best Spa in the North’ by the Good Spa Guide readers and also ‘Best Luxury Experience‘ in the 2013 Tourism Awards and just last week was presented with the ‘Lancashire Life Best Hotel’ award.  Due to the ever increasing popularity of this unique destination, decisions have been made to enhance The SPA Hotel’s dining, spa and also wellness facilities.  The SPA Hotel will remain open throughout the transformation.

The SPA Hotel first opened its doors in August 2011, at the height of the recession and this year to date the luxury destination has been enjoying hotel occupancy rates of 86 percent.

Carole Pilling explains “Over the last three years, with The SPA Hotel we’ve really enjoyed bringing something new and luxurious to Lancashire and the north of England, as well as providing something special for all of our day visitors, overnight and also holiday guests, here at Ribby Hall Village.  It’s therefore important that we continue to enhance what we already offer to our very loyal and dedicated clienteles.  We never want to rest on our laurels and feel very fortunate to be able to provide enhanced dining facilities including all-new menus; improved spa and relaxation areas; plus a new range of wellness therapies and a dedicated wellness centre itself.  And, over the coming weeks we look forward to being able to share more of the details and to the prospect of adding to the already 105 strong team at The SPA Hotel.”

Carole Pilling adds “The initial development at The SPA Hotel cost in excess of £6M, and now The SPA Hotel is soon to receive its own makeover with a further £500,000 being reinvested to transform what’s already on offer.  This year we’re expecting day visitors to The Spa alone to reach 60,000.”

Phase one of the transformation will include the building of an all-new dining facility ‘The Orangery’ – which will be open to day visitors, overnight guests and also local diners, hosting up to 60 diners at any one time.  The Orangery will take pride of place to the front of the existing building, benefiting from the glorious views across The SPA Hotel’s beautifully landscaped grounds, large pond and fountain as well as the al fresco dining Lily-Pads.  In addition to the existing two AA Rosettes and Michelin recommended menus enjoyed by diners at lunchtime and also during the evenings, additional and all-new menus for day and spa visitors will include a range of tea room favourites such as speciality teas, salads, pastas, open sandwiches, desserts and pastries including a decadent choice of afternoon teas.  The existing gourmet menus will also be enhanced, but head chef Michael Noonan is keeping the detail of the new menus firmly under wraps for the time being.

Inside The SPA Hotel, the interior design concept was originally designed by one of the world’s leading experts in leisure, hotel and spas, Malcolm King; whose work spans illustrious projects such as The Plaza – New York, Westin Raffles City – Singapore, The Royal Yacht, Hotel and Spa – Jersey, Mango Bay Hotel – Barbados, The Regency Intercontinental – Bahrain and the MGM Hotel Casino – Las Vegas.  Following considerable research, consultation and working with many local companies, The Spa Hotel’s interior will evolve commencing with The Orangery and its interior being co-ordinated by Mrs Janet Harrison, who is also wife to the Chef Executive of Ribby Hall Village, Mr Paul Harrison.
