Run Lytham 2015 – now open for entries!

8 December 2014

Running for your country is something that most can only dream of but, as part of the annual St George’s Day Festival in Lytham St Annes, Run Lytham offers you the next best thing.

Returning for its second year, next year’s Run Lytham, sponsored by the Lytham St Annes Express, will take place on Sunday 26 April 2015, offering a great opportunity for runners of all abilities to enjoy a scenic 10K that takes in the town’s iconic windmill and picturesque seafront.

With more than 1000 entries this year and an anticipated 2000 people expected to sign up in 2015, next year’s event will be even better. With bigger prize money of £750 for the men’s race and £500 up for grabs for the winner of the women’s race as well as runners up prizes of £50 vouchers for the winners in each age category, Run Lytham is expected to raise plenty of funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity.

Last year’s male winner Patrick Gardiner from Uppermill in Oldham said:  'I entered the St George’s 10k as I was looking for a tough but fun race as part of my training for the Great Manchester Run in May.  When I saw that it was supporting a great cause in the Soldier's charity that was obviously a bonus as well.

“The atmosphere at the finish was great – I was shattered when I crossed the line but there was loads of energy from the announcers and the crowd, and I loved being able to take advantage of all the food stalls to replace some of the calories I'd burned off!

Tessa Walker, the women’s winner from Manchester added: “The Lytham run is a fantastic race on a fast flat two lap course. There is a friendly atmosphere and loads of support from local people. I enjoyed the race, it was very well organised at the start, good prizes and all round a good atmosphere, especially running through the main street in Lytham.”

The patriotic theme of the race day is mirrored by the choice of charity partner.  All proceeds from the race will be donated to ABF the Soldiers Charity, which assists in the recovery and rehabilitation of injured war heroes. The charity has been offering lifetime support to soldiers and their families for 67 years and every race entry will help it continue this important assistance to those who have served their country.

The closing date for entries is 20 April 2015 but places are already booking up fast so visit www.runlytham.co.uk to secure your place or call 07739997243.
