Winckley Square Shack

25 April 2014

The Winckley Weekend has been boosted by the announcement that Paul Heathcote is to be involved in the food festival.

Paul Heathcote will host the ‘Square Shack’ selling themed world burgers and hot dogs, covering Italian, Chinese, French and Mexican to name a few. The canteen will also have afternoon teas on offer with a host of cakes and German lager.

Other food establishments involved in the Winckley Weekend are Forum Bar, Mystery Tea Room and Dukpond.

The Mystery Tea Room will be setting up tables in the street offering samples of tea and food such as cakes and stews.

Forum Bar will also be spilling out onto the street with a BBQ selling their famous burger.

Dukpond will welcome guests to their Havana cabana with a pop up bar selling cocktails, mocktails, vintage cordials and Peruvian street food.

Tim Joel, events manager at Preston City Council said: “There is a real public desire to maintain the spirit of the Guild and Winckley Weekend takes a mix of Guild activities and themes and incorporates them into this weekend of festivities.

“The Square, Winckley Street, Guildhall Street and Cannon Street will be alive with a vintage market, world food & drink from the Winckley businesses, live music, classic cars, fairground rides and even a giant dragon Veronica to entertain the crowds.

“The weekend will really highlight the assets of the Winckley area and show off the potential, showcasing an eclectic mix of traders and professional services ahead of the area undergoing major improvements.”
