Be Creative with Lancashire Archives

6 May 2014

People with an interest in art and creative writing are being invited to join a fascinating World War One project.

The project, run jointly by Lancashire County Council's Archives Service, Preston Arts Association and writer Deborah Morgan, will explore the use of First World War archives for writing and creating art.

A free launch event will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 10 May at Lancashire Archives, in Bow Lane, Preston.

Vicci McCann, senior archivist, said: "The project aims to help local people to learn more about the county's history using material from the nine miles of archives available at Bow Lane.

"As well as the chance to explore archive material related to the First World War, the launch event includes a creative writing workshop and we're thrilled to have Deborah involved.

"The project will run till the beginning of August and will be followed by an evening of readings and exhibitions as part of the Preston Arts Festival in October 2014."
