Burnley set to take centre stage for Manufacturing Excellence

Burnley will be exhibiting at this year’s International Festival of Business, which will be held across several venues in and around Liverpool during June and July.

In Burnley’s year as Most Enterprising Place in the UK, Burnley Bondholders are taking Burnley to the International Festival of Business to showcase Burnley’s reputation as a centre for advanced manufacturing excellence. We will be hosting events, exhibitions, attending conferences and fulfilling guest speaker slots across the festival programme.

The aim is to build new business relationships and create opportunities for trade and investment in Burnley, with visitors from across the globe and across all sectors.

Representatives and manufacturing experts from leading Burnley businesses have been invited to speak at the IFB by the organisers and the Department for Business Innovation & Skills.  Advanced manufacturing ambassadors from global success stories based in Burnley including  Safran Aircelle, AMS Neve and Futaba-Tenneco will share with delegates from across the world Burnley’s manufacturing success story and our private sector growth success. 

Burnley companies will take centre stage at the BIS Manufacturing Summit on the 19th June at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton and the ‘Manufacturing Matters NW’ event which takes place on the 25th June at the Salford City Stadium.

Bondholders  will be showcasing Burnley’s transformation which recently led the Business Secretary Vince Cable to say “If every other part of Britain was like Burnley we wouldn’t be talking about a recession” and the Business & Energy Minister, Michael Fallon to say;  “Burnley is leading the way on the economy”

Burnley sits at the heart of the world’s fourth largest aerospace cluster and is recognised as being at the forefront of advanced manufacturing in the UK. The town is home to several world class aerospace and automotive businesses succeeding on a global platform, renowned for making things and making things well.  Burnley is currently ranked 10th in the UK for private sector growth and 1st for the proportion of jobs in manufacturing – impressive statistics. Global aerospace leaders, Kaman Aero Systems, recently opened their new UK Tooling Centre of Excellence in Burnley on the new Innovation Drive, Burnley’s new aerospace supply park. Kaman was attracted by Burnley’s manufacturing reputation and the opportunity to work alongside other aerospace companies and streamlining of supply chains. Their new site is one of a few facilities in the UK equipped with a state-of-the-art design suite for enhanced design and manufacturing and the largest  which will considerably increase  the capacity of Kaman Tooling, already a world-leading supplier of mould and assembly tooling,
