Ribby Hall Village’s Health Club Shortlisted for Industry Awards

23 September 2014

The Health Club at Ribby Hall Village has been shortlisted for three prestigious National Fitness Awards, beating off strong competition to make the finals.

The Health Club (previously known as ‘Sport & Leisure’) has been shortlisted in the following categories:

1.         Health Club of The Year

2.         Regional Gym of The Year (North)

3.         Group Exercise Gym of The Year

The National Fitness Awards is an annual event, which recognises excellence and achievement in gyms throughout the country. The awards are organised by leading fitness industry magazine Workout, and in each category up to seven finalists have been selected, who will now go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will be out to impress by showcasing first hand the great work going on in their clubs.

So next, a member of the Workout team will take an in-depth look around Ribby Hall Village’s Health Club facilities and will also take time to talk to both members and staff before compiling a comprehensive report – which will then be passed on to an expert judging panel to decide on the lucky winners.

Trophies will be handed out to the winners at a glittering awards ceremony on Friday 28th November 2014 at The Athena in Leicester, which will be hosted by boxing world champion Ricky Hatton and top TV presenter and fitness expert Caroline Pearce.

Mark Leech, Ribby Hall Village’s Health Club Senior Manager explains “To win Health Club of the Year in 2013 was amazing and so to be shortlisted again in 2014 and in three different categories is simply superb.  Since winning Health Club of The Year last year, we’ve made significant improvements to our offering by reinvesting a substantial amount of profits back into The Health Club here at Ribby Hall Village.  For example, we’ve opened our own sports store this summer called Activate selling everything from swim suits, sports bags, running gear, trainers and racquets to working with some of the industry’s best international brands such as Adidas, Pure Lime, Nike and new to the UK MadPax. When Olympian Roger Black opened our all-new gym he described it as having world class facilities with the latest and greatest of Technogym equipment.  Following the opening of the gym we have also totally refurbished both of our members’ changing rooms too.  We’d also really like to thank all of our members for their continued support especially whilst these enhancements took place”.

National Fitness Awards’ director Judith Halkerston said: "Considering the high number and calibre of entries, it is a huge achievement to be one of just a handful of shortlisted gyms in your categories and each and every one of our finalists should be congratulated for making it this far.

"The next step will be for our team to visit every facility that has made the shortlist – it means travelling thousands of miles but is a great way to see just what fantastic work is going on every day within the health and fitness industry."
