The Seafood Pub Company arrives in Aughton

23 January 2015

The Seafood Pub Company’s ship is sailing into West Lancashire with the acquisition of its seventh pub site.

The Lancashire based pub company, which was named Restaurant magazine’s R200 Pub Company of the year in 2014, has acquired the Town Green Inn in Aughton, Ormskirk from Punch Taverns. It follows closely on the heels of the group’s acquisition and refurbishment of the Derby Arms in Thornley, Longridge and the Barley Mow in Barley, Pendle last year.

The Seafood Pub Company was recently shortlisted in a prestigious national award, The Publican’s Best Food Offering for 2 – 50 sites and it has won a host of other industry awards for its food, drink and venues including Lancashire and Cheshire Life Restaurant of the Year and listings in the Good Pub and Good Food Guides.

Work is now underway on refurbishing the new acquisition which will reopen at Easter, rebranded as the Town Green Brasserie.

“The acquisition of the Town Green Inn offered us the perfect opportunity to expand into West Lancashire,” said Seafood Pub Company managing director Joycelyn Neve, who was named Lancashire and Cheshire Life’s Food Hero of the Year in 2014.

“We’re proud of the reputation we have for delivering great food, great service and great surroundings. Opening the Barley Mow last year allowed us to launch our Pub Co brand and this is where the Town Green will fit in well.”

The Pub Co brand focuses more on a wide drinks range, classic dishes and on trend eats, each developed by the company’s executive chef Antony Shirley.

The Brasserie will feature an extensive range of wines, cocktails, spirits and real ales and an exciting food menu developed by our award winning executive chef.

“We are already getting to know our new neighbours and are looking forward to ensuring the Town Green Brasserie becomes a welcome part of the local community.”

Tom Hodgson of Christie + Co, who assisted with the acquisition of the site, added: “We had numerous parties interested with a view to changing it to a variety of uses from residential to a convenience store! We were delighted to find an operator that wanted to transform the pub in to a thriving food-led establishment and the Seafood Pub Company are perfect for this site. With six, established sites already trading fantastically, we have no doubt that the reformed Town Green Inn will be a success.”
