Astley Hall set to glow again

Thursday, 12th November 2015

CHORLEY’S historic Astley Hall is all set be transformed into a magical winter wonderland again with spectacular lights, artistic performance and film.

Between 5pm and 10pm on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, Chorley’s centre-piece building will be lit up in magnificent LED spotlights and over 200 candles to help mark the start of Chorley’s Christmas celebrations.

The show stopping weekend has been organised by Chorley Council together with assistance from the Friends of Astley Hall.

Plus this year with funding from Arts Council England, Astley Hall will come alive on the Saturday with dramatic live dance and original music from La Petite Mort Theatre and there will be screenings of a specially-commissioned film from Zemap productions.

On the Sunday, there will be no live performances but visitors will be able to watch a film of the performance and dance on a large screen in the Walled Garden as well as touring the magnificently-lit historic house.

Councillor Bev Murray, who oversees Astley Hall for Chorley Council, said: “Last year’s Astley Illuminated was one of our biggest and brightest events and we’re delighted to be bringing this event to Chorley and in deed Lancashire once again.

“Whether you missed the opportunity to see the Hall lit up last year or you came along and would like to see it again, it really is a spectacular sight and we are looking forward to welcoming people to the historic hall to showcase what it has to offer.

“We’re really excited to be working with La Petite Mort Theatre and Zemap productions to add artistic performance and film to the event this year and with some trees and more sides of Astley Hall lit, it should be a lovely evening out for all the family on both nights.

“The event is free to attend and Café Ambio will be serving delicious hot drinks and food on both evenings which will make a perfect accompaniment to enjoying the delights of Astley Hall on a wonderful winter’s night.”
