Blackpool Winter Gardens Awarded WorldHost Business Status

10 December 2015

Blackpool Winter Gardens is being celebrated for putting customers first as it is awarded WorldHost Recognised Business status.

The renowned business and entertainment venue has become the latest organisation in the UK to gain national recognition for its commitment to customer service, after being awarded WorldHost Recognised Business status.

WorldHost is a world-class customer service training programme that has already been used to train almost 150,000 people in the UK, including tens of thousands of staff and volunteers for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The status is awarded to businesses that have trained 50% or more of their front line staff using any of the WorldHost training programmes and signed a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Winter Gardens Managing Director Michael Williams said: “We are delighted to receive WorldHost Recognised Business status as it clearly means our team is meeting the highest standards in customer care.

“We have a great team at the Winter Gardens who work tirelessly to deliver seven days a week and virtually 365 days a year.

“Hopefully our customers will see the WorldHost logo displayed in our venue and they’ll know that we have made a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for them. Not only does this generate a positive feeling about the service we offer, but it helps to promote the Winter Gardens as a friendly and welcoming tourist destination.”

The WorldHost programme is being rolled out across the UK by skills and workforce development charity, People 1st, to help businesses gain a competitive edge and position the nation as a world-class tourist destination.

The Winter Gardens is one of the founding members of the Blackpool Tourism Academy, a consortium of key leisure attractions within the UK's premier seaside resort dedicated to boosting the skills of their workforce. With the assistance of funding from the Government's Employer Ownership Pilot, a range of training is being delivered to equip the workforce with skills and attributes which will not only enhance their personal abilities but also add value to the businesses in which they work.

The WorldHost Recognition Certificate is valid for two years and is renewable on completion of a refresher course. In order to preserve the value of the WorldHost Recognition, the programme may be monitored through impromptu mystery shopper visits.
