A little present from Preston City Council….

2 December 2015

This Christmas, Preston City Council are providing free WIFI in the Flag Market, in partnership with HM Networks and Boundless Communications, to enhance the city centre’s Christmas offer. Alongside the high street brands, quirky independents, cafes, restaurants and bars, there is an ice rink, pop-up festive bar, as well as a handful of stalls and fair rides spread across the Flag Market throughout December. These features, combined with the free parking offer that was agreed between St. George’s Shopping Centre, Fishergate Shopping Centre, Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council and Preston Business Improvement District, have been brought in to give shoppers another reason to choose local this Christmas.

It is easy to log on – the first time you need to log on through Facebook or Twitter, or by completing a short form, subsequent visits will log on automatically. This is an ideal opportunity to pilot event-based WIFI in the city centre, and feedback will help determine the feasibility of future endeavours.

Councillor Afrin, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure Services said, “It is great to see yet another element added to what Preston has to offer this Christmas. Using Preston based shops, restaurants, and bars is a simple, yet important way to help the local economy. Whether it is for your Christmas shopping, meeting up with friends or family, or just running a few errands, choose Preston and do your bit!”
