The 2015 season opens at Queen Street Mill

2 March 2015

Lancashire families will be able to enjoy visiting Queen Street Mill Textile Museum (QSM) in Burnley when it opens for the new season on Tuesday 3 March.

People of all ages will be able to experience the sights and sounds of the last surviving 19th century steam powered weaving mill and relive the days of when cotton was king.

Sarah Taylor, Lancashire County Council's museum manager at QSM, said: "There will be something for everyone to see and do, even if you've been before.

"Visitors to the museum can see demonstrations of the Victorian steam engine 'Peace' driving over 300 looms in the weaving shed and experience the sights, sounds and smells of a working mill really bringing the traditional industry to life.

"We run family events and activities throughout the season, serve delicious homemade food in Tackler's café and have a well-stocked shop where visitors can purchase gifts that have actually been woven in the mill."

QSM is run by Lancashire County Council with support from Burnley Borough Council.

Admission is £3 for adults, £2 for concessions. Accompanied children and Burnley residents go free. Car parking is free and QSM is fully accessible for disabled visitors, including people with guide dogs.
