Outdoor theatre returns to Astley

10 April 2015

ASTLEY Park’s Walled Garden is set to be transformed into scenes of comedy and romance as part of Chorley Council’s first outdoor theatre event of the year.

After successful performances in 2014, Chorley Council is bringing back Heartbreak Productions to perform its fun, musical adaption of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost.
Set in the Roaring 20s at an Oxford College, the bold theatre in the park performance follows the rollicking antics of three young men who set out on their academic path with the best of intentions. Initially giving up food, sleep, and a hectic social life in the pursuit of knowledge, they soon succumb to distractions that arise in the form of the fairer sex.

Tickets for the laugh along show with plenty of jokes and japes are now on sale and selling fast so people are being urged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Jamie Carson, Chorley Council’s director of public protection, streetscene and community , said: “We’ve organised theatre in the park events for the last two years and people really enjoy them.  This year we’re starting early with an adaption of Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost on Sunday 31 May, which promises to be a laugh out loud show.

“Tickets are now on sale and the more we get people supporting these events, the more we can put on.  So if you want to enjoy entertaining theatre in the beautiful surroundings of Astley Park make sure you get your tickets now.

“For those wanting family entertainment we have two more outdoor theatre performances scheduled for the summer including Robin Hood the musical on Sunday 16 August and Mr Stink on Saturday 29 August.  All performances are available to book online now at chorley.gov.uk/whatson”

Love’s Labour’s Lost is being held on Sunday 31 May at 5pm and tickets are on sale now. They are priced £10 for adults, £7 for children (aged 8 -16), or £30 for a family ticket of two adults and two children.

You can get the tickets for Love’s Labour’s Lost, Robin Hood the musical and Mr Stink at www.chorley.gov.uk
