Young ‘Uns Awards receives boost in run-up to entry deadline!

10 April 2015

It’s the final call for Lancashire’s young business people to enter the Young ‘Uns Awards 2015. The awards, which will celebrate the next generation of business leaders, will close for entries at midnight on 14 April 2015.

And the awards, organised by Lancashire Business View magazine and backed by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), has today announced Boost Business Lancashire as joint headline sponsor of the event alongside UCLan, as well as Preston’s College as a category sponsor.

Andrew Leeming, senior project officer for Boost Business Lancashire commented: “It’s a real privilege to be involved in an event of this kind, supporting and celebrating the county’s young business stars and leaders of the future. We urge all young business people to get themselves nominated!”

Lisa Edge, head of commercial development commented: "Preston's College are extremely pleased to be supporting these fabulous awards that allow us to celebrate young and talented business men and women!"

Richard Slater, publisher of Lancashire Business View, said: “We are delighted that Boost Business Lancashire has come on board to support the Young ‘Uns Awards 2015 and we look forward to working together in promoting Lancashire’s young talent.

“Young ‘Uns started life as a feature in our magazine, profiling the sharpest business minds aged 36 and under. Eventually, we had so many fantastic stories that it became obvious we needed to honour them properly.”

From legal eagles to digital dynamos, red-hot retailers to globetrotting international traders, there are 12 categories to ensure that anyone making waves in business has a chance to be recognised.

There is also a Young ‘Un Business of the Year category to honour new organisations, and the most impressive entry overall will take home the esteemed ‘The Young ‘Un of 2015’ Award.

Dharma Kovvuri, Dean of Lancashire Business School at UCLan added: “We’ve had a great response to the awards so far and we look forward to reviewing Lancashire’s young professionals during judging. Lancashire is such a great place to be a young person in business so we are delighted to be playing a key part in this year’s event.
“We would encourage all those aged 36 and under in business to enter and gain recognition for what they do”.

Nominations can be made by completing the entry form at www.lbvyoung-uns.co.uk before midnight on April 14. The shortlist will be announced on May 11 before the awards night itself on June 12.

Other sponsors confirmed to date include Peter Scott Printers and Square Cactus.
