Conversations in Creativity on UK design

6 May 2015

Some of the best established and emerging brands from UK design and manufacturing will be talking about their work during a special 'Conversation in Creativity' event.

It takes place from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday 14 May at the Harris Museum & Art Gallery in Preston.

The panel of experts will cover issues of sustainability, provenance and the sourcing of good quality, good value suppliers here in the UK versus abroad, as well as what lies behind the British consumer purchase decision.

Speakers include Antony Wallis from Best of Britannia, Barry Jackson from Hivehaus, Claire Norcross from Luminosity, David Chadwick from Carradice and Fiona Candy from UCLan and a-brand.

This special event is free to attend, but places are limited. Registration is essential via the event page – http://www.creativelancashire.org/html/CICBOB_1720.html.

It's part of the special Best of Britannia (BoB) North weekend, held from 15 May to 17 May.

The Conversations in Creativity series is organised by Creative Lancashire and has included some of the country's leading creatives including Simon Aldred from Cherry Ghost, Nick Park, Jeanette Winterson, Lemn Sissay and BoB director Wayne Hemingway.

Ed Matthews-Gentle from Creative Lancashire explained: "This is the first time that BoB has been held in the North of England, so it a prestigious event for the city.

"Our Conversations in Creativity events have proved popular in the past and we're looking forward to being part of this promising and exciting BoB weekend, showcasing some of the very best design and manufacturing in the whole of the UK."

Creative Lancashire is a service provided by Lancashire County Council through its economic development company – Lancashire County Developments Ltd (LCDL). They support creative and digital businesses and work with all sectors to realise creative potential.

Breathing new life into the former Central Post Office building, the BoB team will create a unique pop-up department store experience. This event will profile a range of products reflecting the best from the UK, showcasing established and emerging talent from fashion, textiles, footwear, accessories, jewellery, cycling, motoring, home furnishings and much more.
