Ribby Hall Village Supports National Unplugging Day
Tuesday, 16th June 2015
Lancashire Holiday Village goes on a digital detox to support National Unplugging Day on Sunday 28th June.
Lancashire holiday resort, Ribby Hall Village is celebrating National Unplugging Day on Sunday 28th June by encouraging families to down their phones and mobile devices and concentrate on enjoying an old-style family day.
Ribby Hall Village, as supporters of the traditional family holiday, are supporting the initiative by asking parents to put down their smartphones within The Village’s public areas or risk an on-the-spot fine from the Village’s ‘unplugging monitors’. All money raised will go to Ribby Hall Village’s registered charity Brian House Children’s Hospice.
Ribby Hall Village will also be encouraging parents to #GoGadgetFree by offering a 10% discount in The Village’s Bar and Grill for those that can enjoy a digital detox dinner, connecting as a family with no tablets or smartphones at the table.
National Unplugging Day is the brainchild of leading parenting website MyFamilyClub.co.uk following a study finding the average parent with a smartphone uses it 240 times a day – on emails, texts and social media. This is the second annual National Unplugging Day and Ribby Hall Village is supporting this initiative to encourage vital family holiday time.
Ribby Hall Village is a luxury and five-star self-catering holiday village near Blackpool on Lancashire's Fylde Coast, in the North West of England - just ten minutes’ drive from the beaches of Blackpool and Lytham St. Annes. Ribby Hall Village has 100 acres of landscaped grounds for the family to explore with a woodland trail, horse riding, cycling, adventure playground or archery and a lovely boating lake.
Backing the campaign, Mark Partington, Managing Director at Ribby Hall Village: “At Ribby Hall Village we encourage a traditional holiday experience which is based around quality time spent as a family. Digital distractions are commonplace with smartphones ever prevalent and unfortunately this technology does intrude on family holiday time. Parents find it hard to switch off and children similarly are reliant on tablet devices. We want to encourage guests to put away their digital devices, unplug and pledge to spend time doing something different with their children such as going out for a family bike ride, playing in the outdoor adventure playground, feeding the ducks, or taking a walk within the Woodland Trail.”
Holidays start from £12 per person per night* A three-night stay at Ribby Hall Village starts from just £279 based on a family of six sharing a three-bedroom cottage. For further information or to book visit www.ribbyhall.co.uk or call 0800 107 0336.
*Based on a four night midweek stay in a Poppy cottage 20 Nov – 20 Dec 2015
