Leighton Hall stages 2 Shakespeare Shows this Summer

3 June 2015

The Festival Players are celebrating their 30th year of touring and during a staggering 80 date tour of the UK, will stop at Leighton Hall in June and July for a double bill of delicious Shakespeare.

Two of the Bard’s most popular plays, Henry IV and As You Like It will be performed alfresco in Leighton’s stunning gardens.

Supporters of Shakespeare and devotees of drama will be treated to a free ticket for As You Like It, if they come along to Henry IV on 25th June.

Henry IV is an epic historical drama which brings to life the humanity, politics, battles and humour of this period in medieval Britain. It is a spirited adaptation focussing on the loveable, larger than life rogue Sir John Falstaff and his adventures with Prince Hal, the future King Henry V. Performed on 25th June, the all male cast will delight open air garden guests whatever the weather.

Suzie Reynolds, Owner of Leighton Hall said, “The Festival Players perform here every year and never disappoint. The plays are always a refreshing take on Shakespeare’s original work.   We think Leighton provides the perfect backdrop for the cast and together with live, original music written especially for each play, it’s a perfect summers evening of entertainment."

Rain or shine, the shows starts at 7:30pm but Leighton’s grounds open at 6pm and visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics.

So wrap up warm, spread your blanket out, open your deck chair and cool box, and enjoy a two hour treat of authentic Shakespeare in the Garden!
