Family fun at shopping centre this summer

22 July 2015

Children’s TV favourite Peppa Pig, an eight foot tall robot and giant board games are just some of the free attractions planned to keep families entertained at Preston’s biggest shopping centre this summer.

The countdown to St George’s Shopping Centre’s ‘Summer of Fun’ is now on, with the first event set to kick off on August 3.

Bosses at the centre are pulling out all the stops to ensure visitors to the venue have plenty to keep youngsters – and adults – entertained during the summer holidays.

The fun will start on Monday August 3 when an area of the centre will be transformed for giant lawn games.

There’ll be a host of giant games including Jenga, Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders, Noughts and Crosses and more on offer.

The games will be available free of charge for shoppers throughout the week from 11am until 4pm, up to and including Sunday August 9.

The following weekend on Saturday August 15 there will be a special treat for the youngsters when television favourites Peppa Pig and George come to visit.

The popular pair will be hosting a special meet and greet followed by story time sessions on the lawn throughout the day – a perfect way to keep the youngsters occupied.

Show times are 11am, noon, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm and are free of charge.

From Monday August 17 to Saturday August 22 there’ll be something for the adventurous ones – a digital climbing wall.

From 11am until 4pm each day there’s a chance to play games and learn climbing techniques on an interactive digiwall. The touch sensitive wall lights up and is available for tots to teens, with climbing wall experts on hand each day.

And to end the summer holidays with a bang the biggest entertainer on the planet – Titan the Robot – will visit St George’s.

Street entertainer Titan who has toured with Rhianna and appeared on Big Brother will be treating shoppers to two special performances on Saturday August 29.

General manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer said: “There’s so much going on in Preston this summer, with a host of activities planned across the city. Our family attractions add to that great events calendar and will help ensure Preston is the place to be this summer.

“All the attractions are free and everybody is welcome to come and have some fun on us. We hope everybody enjoys themselves.”
