Photo Finish at The Mall’s Retailer Awards

28 July 2015

A Day at The Races was the theme for The Mall Blackburn’s 13th Retailer Awards and over 150 people gathered at King George’s Hall to ‘back’ their workplace and colleagues.

The ladies and gentlemen came dressed in their finest, with a few fancy dress jockeys, race night entertainment and games adding a real feel of the races.

Primark, which opened its doors in The Mall in 2010, was named Best Overall Retailer for the fourth year running after a photo finish with Next and New Look. It also picked up a gong for Most Involvement in Social Media.

Pandora also crossed the finishing line with two wins for Best Involvement in Marketing and Most Involvement in the national and local Love Sundays promotion.

It was a three horse race in the Best Independent Retailer Category with Inter Car Cleaning passing the final furlong just ahead of Peter Jackson the Jewellers and Time-Piece.

Shoppers’ Choice, which was voted for by thousands of Mall customers, went to NEXT, while Best Customer Experience for customer service, visual merchandising and best environment was awarded to Costa Coffee.

Warren James was victorious in the C&R Safe Award category, while New Look was recognised for it involvement with The Mall’s RewardME Card scheme.

Millie’s Cookies won an award for its involvement with the Mall’s Ask Me Point and The Fragrance Shop was acknowledged for its involvement with Trade Index.

Loraine Jones, General Manager of The Mall Blackburn, said: “The Retailer Awards provide a fantastic opportunity for The Mall retailers to get together and celebrate their achievements.

“This annual event is definitely a highlight of our retail calendar and is a night where those hard working and dedicated team members gain the recognition they thoroughly deserve.

“It is always so difficult to choose the winners of each category as all our retailers are an integral part The Mall, so I would like to congratulate all winners and finalists.

“It also gives me the opportunity to extend my thanks to the in house teams that work hard every day, from security and cleaning to marketing and operations and the fabulous car park team.

“The evening was a huge success and a great time was had by all!”

There was also a raffle, which raised £185 for The Mall’s nominated charity Blackburn based Nightsafe.
