Giant pentagon aims to bring out your artistic side

14 August 2015

A free-standing structure featuring black and white hand-drawn illustrations is set to challenge budding artists to get creative with colouring at the Blackburn BID’s street fair on Saturday, 15 August.

Artist Scott Walker will be on hand to help as visitors colour in the large pentagon shaped showpiece with liquid chalk pens. He said: “Children and adults can’t help but be drawn to the Pentagon, and get stuck in with the paint pens, to create a huge piece of community artwork.  The black and white cartoon graphic is made up of fantastic creatures and tantalizes the latent artist within, so that soon, with paint pen in hand, all ages are adding their own inspired contributions.”

Scott has also put together a bespoke design using historic images from Blackburn’s past to cover a similar structure planned for the town’s heritage festival which kicks off on Saturday, 12 September.

The street fair takes place on Saturday, 15 August from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Town Hall Street.
