Fireworks set to return to Chorley’s Astley Park

4 October 2016

FAMILIES are invited to gather in Astley Park on Friday 4 November for the return of a fantastic fireworks display and bonfire.

Chorley Council is organising the family event after great feedback from last year with many people saying it was one of the best fireworks displays they had ever seen.

The event will take place on Astley Park’s playing fields from 6.30pm on Friday 4 November with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and the fireworks display launching at 7.30pm.  There will be some food stalls for people to grab a quick bite to eat and attendees are being encouraged to come dressed for the weather and ground conditions.

Entry to the event is free but there will be collection buckets with voluntary donations going to the Mayor of Chorley’s charities, which include St Catherine’s Hospice, the North West Air Ambulance and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Councillor Peter Wilson, who oversees events at Chorley Council, said: “After the amazing feedback we received about last year’s fireworks, we had to organise this event again.  This is a great simple, traditional bonfire and fireworks display and a great evening out for all the family.

“The fireworks display will last around 15 minutes and will once again look spectacular against the backdrop of Astley Hall.  Whether you attended last year or not, we’ve been promised a display that’s a little different but equally as impressive.

“We’re encouraging people to have a safe and enjoyable time over the Halloween and Bonfire period and there’s no better way of doing that than attending an organising event with family and friends.”

Anyone attending the bonfire and fireworks event in Astley Park on Friday 4 November is being advised to park in Chorley town centre, where parking will be free after 5pm.  The paths from the Park Road and Queens Road entrances to Astley Park will have some lighting to help families find their way to the playing fields.

There will be limited parking on Hallgate car park and restrictions will be put in place across Astley Village.
