80s teen idol Paul Young is coming to Lytham for one night only

7 March 2016

Eighties heart-throb Paul Young will be laying his hat in Lytham in a special warm-up concert for this year’s Lytham Festival.

It is announced today that Young, famous for such hits as Wherever I lay My Hat, Love of the Common People and Everytime You Go Away will play a special one-off concert at Lowther Pavilion on Monday May 30.

Tickets to see Paul Young at Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion go on sale at 10am tomorrow (Tuesday March 8).

Paul Young rose to fame as an 80s teen idol picking up Brit Awards for Best British Male and Best British Album for Everytime You Go Away. He sang the opening lines on the original release of the Band Aid single Do They Know It’s Christmas and appeared at Wembley Stadium for Live Aid the following summer in July 1985. Since the mid-90s he has continued to write music and perform with his band Los Pacaminos.

His concert in Lytham is being presented by Lytham Festival organisers and promoters Cuffe and Taylor as a taster of the fantastic acts appearing at the festival’s Mix Tape night on Friday August 5.

Director Peter Taylor said: “We are delighted that Lytham Festival is presenting Paul Young for one night only.

“His name and voice is synonymous with the sound of the 80s and I am sure there are many of his fans who would absolutely love to see him in the intimate setting of Lowther Pavilion.

“This presents us with the perfect taster of what is going to be an incredible night at Lytham Festival when an eclectic mix of artists from the 70s through to the 90s take to the stage in the main Festival Arena on Lytham Green for our Mix Tape night.”

Tickets to see Paul Young at Lowther Pavilion are priced from £20 and are available from www.lythamfestival.com or by calling 0844 888 0200
