The Mall Blackburn supports Lancashire Mind as its charity of the year

13 April 2016

The Mall Blackburn is delighted to announce that it has chosen Lancashire Mind as its Charity of the Year for 2016.

Easter holiday fun including face painting, crafts and Magic Sand Art will be taking place at The Mall Blackburn as part of the first batch of fund-raising events this month.

Shoppers will also get an opportunity to talk to members of Lancashire Mind about its services and support including The Achieving Self Care and Facing Up projects.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Lancashire Mind during 2016.

“Mental wellbeing in Lancashire is lower than the national average, and Blackburn with Darwen has one of the lowest wellbeing levels in Lancashire, so it’s hugely important to us to raise awareness about this in the area.

“There will be lots of fundraising activities taking place throughout the year in The Mall Blackburn and we would like to encourage the local community to get involved and also learn more about the help that’s available through Lancashire Mind.”

The key objective of Lancashire Mind is to create a happier Lancashire by campaigning to make mental health a local priority and help people find the tools to manage, maintain and improve mental wellbeing.

“One in four of us will experience a mental health condition,” explained Fabienne Clough Fundraising Coordinator for Lancashire Mind.

“Around 1500 people benefit from our service each year and this number is increasing as we reach out to more people.

“We are so grateful for the support of The Mall Blackburn which always embraces its social responsibility to help local charities.

“We are more than just a mental health charity, we’re a passionate movement leading the mental wellbeing revolution in Lancashire.”

The crafts and face painting will start on Monday 11th April until Friday 22nd April and will be available for a minimum donation of £1. The Magic Sand Art activities will commence on Saturday 9th April until Friday 22nd April and will  £3.99 with 50p of this being donated to Lancashire Mind.
