6 April 2016

Lancaster Castle is raising the curtain on a production of 'Murder by Gaslight' in April.

The show is being performed on Saturday 16 April at 7.30pm.

Murder by Gaslight is a ghoulish story about two of the most infamous poisoners in British history, William Palmer and Harvey Crippen. The audience will be able to listen to retelling of their stories before deciding on whether they were guilty or innocent.

The production is created by Don't Go Into The Cellar! Theatre. This team of professionally trained actors were formed in 2010, and have developed a reputation for performing macabre stories from the Victorian era.

Lancashire County Council's head of libraries, museums, culture and registrars services, Julie Bell, said: "I have no doubt that this will be an entertaining evening.

"The audience will be able to watch this famous story come to life before them and then make their own minds up.

"To add to the atmosphere, this will be performed in the incredible location of Lancaster Castle's Crown Court, by a company who have a superb reputation with this type of production."

Tickets for the performances cost £7.50 for adults and £6 for concessions.

Ticket numbers are limited so booking is essential. To book a ticket, to find out about opening times or for more information phone 01524 64998 or call in at the castle shop between 9.30am to 4.30pm.
