International Burnley designer lands top role

18 May 2016

Jane Louise Taylor, an international design and colour consultant designing for UK, USA and Asian textile manufacturers is celebrating landing a top job with one of the world’s largest professional towel manufacturers, Loftex China Ltd, based near Beijing, China.

Her new role as European Design & Marketing Director will see Jane heading up the growth of the UK and European market, creating towel designs to meet the European retailer tastes, from her UK design studio in Burnley, Lancashire.

Jane said: “This is an amazing new challenge for me during the year when I’m celebrating my 25th anniversary as a global designer.

“I’ve worked with many clients across the world, in Pakistan, Canada, Australia Germany, France, America and many more, designing for high end brands including Chanel and Christian Dior.

“With 25 years’ experience designing ribbons and broadcloth for manufacturers both nationally and internationally, for well-known brands including Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Bloomingdales, Macys, Zara Home, Carrefour, Target, Victoria Secret, this is an exciting new challenge and adventure for me.”

“I’ve recently returned from the towel factory in Beijing which is literally the size of a large town, where I presented to a huge floor of managers and designers. It is a totally new culture to experience and I’m looking forward to designing for their European markets.

“My international career began in my 20’s and I’ve been travelling first class to various cities across the world including New York, sharing my design inspiration and creativity ever since.

“I was offered a golden opportunity of a permanent position in New York, which was a truly exciting offer, but made me evaluate what I wanted my next step to be. Having established my UK design studio here in Burnley, I turned down the New York offer and decided to focus on my next challenge. It was the start of designing broadcloth textiles as opposed to narrow woven ribbons and I haven’t looked back since.

Adding: “I am proud to host my international clients from my design studio here in Burnley, and will soon be hosting a group of esteemed guests from China who I’m sure will be pleasantly surprised at how characterful and lovely the area is.”

“I love coming home to Cliviger, a beautiful village on the outskirts of Burnley, to the lush rolling hills of the countryside, with a view of the Cliviger Gorge from my kitchen window. A real escapism from the ever demanding fast global world we live in.”

Jane’s fabric design work around the world has made her a sought after figure in the global textile industry.
