Big One Talent Show is back at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

5 May 2016

Following on from the success of last year’s competition, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is once again launching its search for young stars, The Big One Talent Show.

Do you know a youngster with talent? Perhaps you’re a young performer who can bust a few moves or belt out a tune. You could even amaze us with your magic, juggling or just about any other skills.

The competition is open to anyone aged 7 to 17 years old, solo artists or groups, opera or pop singers, moon walkers to dance troupes, the list goes on! The grand prize is £500 with other great prizes for runners up.
The Big One Talent Show will take place at the Globe Theatre, located by the entrance to Pleasure Beach.

Three heats will be held from 2pm on Thursday 4th, 11th and 18th August, with the grand final on 25th August. Entry is completely free for both those looking to perform and the audience.

The competition is to be judged by Amanda Thompson OBE, Managing Director of Pleasure Beach, and members of the Stageworks Worldwide Productions team.

Over the past few years, many of the talent shows competitors have gone on to perform on shows such as Britain’s Got Talent.

Last year’s Britain’s Got Talent saw Harry Gallagher, a former Big One Talent Show finalist, take to the stage and make it all the way to the semi-final, only missing the final on the judges votes.  In 2010 Connected reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent, the band were made up of talent youngsters who had previously reached, and in some cases won, Pleasure Beach’s Big One Talent Show.  The group went on to have great success; touring with Little Mix and having two Top 40 singles.

2012 saw another Big One Talent Show alumni Daisy Mondryk make it all the way to the semi finals as her group, Be Minor, came within a whisker of making it all the way.  The girl group continued after the talent show and went on to perform at many high profile gigs.

Last year singer Alex Lees wowed the judges with his amazing vocals on his way to winning the talent show.

On the competition, Amanda Thompson OBE commented, “I was amazed at the extremely high standard in last year’s competition and expect that this year it will be even better. The competition is an excellent opportunity for youngsters to get the opportunity to have fun, perform on stage and potentially get the chance to perform at a fantastic Pleasure Beach event.”
