Blackpool has it all

5 May 2016

Blackpool is out to prove that it ‘has it all’.  The forward thinking resort is investing in its winning tourism-boosting formula and evolving its highly successful ‘Blackpool’s Back’ campaign launched in 2014.

With two years of impact, the campaign has created a positive shift in the perceptions of Blackpool, positioning it as a ‘family resort’ – highlighting the amazing collection of world-renowned, family attraction brands and offers as if seen through the eyes of a child.

The campaign is a collaborative effort.  Merlin Entertainments – which runs a host of attractions in the town including The Blackpool Tower, Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE – together with VisitBlackpool, the tourism arm of the council, and supported by other key resort players are all investing for the third year running.  The campaign will return to television from 13th June – 5th August in Scotland and between 16th July and 29th August in the North.

This Summer, the new campaign #Blackpoolhasitall will ramp things up even further – new and exclusive for 2016 include; Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift** as the latest arrivals at Madame Tussauds in the brand new ‘Festival Fields’ attraction, the Silver Jubilee Circus Show at The Blackpool Tower Circus, SEA LIFE Jurassic Seas and the 80th anniversary of the world renowned Hot Ice show at the Pleasure Beach. Additionally, the UK’s largest indoor water park, Sandcastle celebrates 30 years, Nickelodeon are bringing SLIMEFEST to the resort and iconic West End shows including the Sound of Music, Ghost, Dirty Dancing and Footloose will be showcased at the Winter Garden’s Opera House.

Councillor Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “Blackpool attracts 13 million visitors a year and is the UK’s most visited beach resort by some distance.

“With the new re-vamped #Blackpoolhasitall campaign, we are aiming to re-engage even more families that used to visit the resort, perhaps as youngsters themselves, as well as stimulating new visits from families and younger couples for whom Blackpool is simply not on their holiday radar.

“We will work again with independent hotels, restaurants and other business owners to ensure the collaboration has a positive effect across the resort.

Head of the Blackpool Cluster for Merlin Entertainments, Kate Shane said: “Now we’ve successfully shown that Blackpool is definitely back, we’re ready to show that Blackpool has it all too. There are lots of exciting developments this time around to encourage even more parents to come and share their own childhood memories, or create new ones together.”

*Omnibus, 5000 UK households surveyed – September 2015
**Taylor Swift will be in the attraction until June 2016
