27 September 2016

Luxury country house hotel, Northcote is celebrating being named AA Hotel of the Year – England at the AA Hospitality Awards 2016. This prestigious award recognises the most exceptional hotel in England and is chosen by a panel of industry experts, making it the ultimate accolade for hotels in the UK.

Northcote is an independently owned, 26-bedroom hotel located in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire that strives to offer guests a luxury country escape paired with gastronomic excellence and attentive service. Individually styled, luxurious bedrooms are divided between the original Manor House, which dates back to 1880, and the new Garden Lodge, all with spectacular views across the Ribble Valley.

Northcote’s Chef Patron Nigel Haworth was also shortlisted for AA’s Chef of the Year Award 2016. This award is incredibly unique as it gives Rosette-awarded chefs the opportunity to decide who deserves to have their work over the past year recognised. The hotel’s Michelin star restaurant is renowned for its contemporary, innovative cuisine that uses the best local and seasonal ingredients and can be enjoyed with choices from the carefully curated wine cellar filled with award-winning and unique wines.

The culinary focus also includes a Chef’s Table giving guests an exciting dining option and insight into how a Michelin star kitchen operates, a Cookery School that provides an opportunity to learn and develop new skills, and a private dining room; the Louis Roederer Room, which can accommodate up to 55-60 guests, or can be split into two individual rooms, seating up to 36 and up to 14.

Each year Northcote hosts Obsession, a celebration of the finest food and wine created by Nigel Haworth and now regarded as one of Europe’s leading gastronomic events. Chefs travel from all over the world to take the reins in the Northcote kitchen and create a unique Obsession menu for guests. The next Obsession is the 17th annual event and will be taking place Friday 20th January to Sunday 5th Feb 2017.

Craig Bancroft, Managing Director of Northcote, said: “Being awarded AA Hotel of the Year – England is one of those awards that you always dream of achieving but don’t always believe it will happen. We are absolutely delighted for the whole team at Northcote as this award is for them. It recognises their hard work, endeavour and tenacity to deliver an outstanding food and wine offering alongside genuine hospitality.”

The AA has been recognising hotels for over a century and each year announces 23 awards across 11 separate categories in front of world-renowned chefs, restaurateurs, and hoteliers as well as hospitality experts and celebrity guests. Initially a selection of AA inspectors creates a shortlist of the best hotels from across the UK and then a panel of industry experts picks the overall winners.

Rooms start from £260 per night including breakfast. Northcote also offer a selection of Gourmet and Tasting breaks, which start from £360 per room per night and include half bottle of Louis Roederer Brut Premier served with a selection of canapés, a 5-course gourmet menu with coffee and breakfast.
