24 October 2017

Choc Amor at Cedar Farm, Mawdesley, Lancashire
is a multiple winner at
International Chocolate Awards 2017 World Champions

Choc Amor was successful in gaining two World Bronze awards (Turkish Charm and Bitter Orange) at the weekend in London as part of Chocolate Week.

The Awards were founded in 2012 and are run by a group of independent international partners based in the UK, Italy and the USA, with years of experience tasting and evaluating chocolate and running fine
chocolate related events. The rules and judging are overseen by our permanent Grand Jury members, Country Partners and independent experts, who set the rules of the Awards based on ongoing consultation with our entrants.

Competitions are held in a growing number of countries and regions around the world, including Italy, UK, USA, Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium, South America and other locations, with more competitions added each year. Winners of the regional competitions are then judged again for the World Finals which are held in October, these celebrate the best entries of the year. Entry to the World Awards is open for any consumer retail products that meet the quality criteria laid down in the rules and which has won at the local country Awards.

As we gained four winners at the British Awards we were allowed to enter these into the World Awards. The judges include a wide range of experts, tasters, pastry chefs, food journalists, bloggers, sommeliers, chefs and our Grand Jury. This year there were over 2,000 entries from around the world and only 245 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards given.

By making consumers more aware of the hard work and craft that goes into the best fine chocolate products, the International Chocolate Awards helps the fine chocolate industry to grow and develop in established regions as well as new markets. By helping to identify the best chocolate made with the best cacao, we hope to help chocolate makers, chocolatiers and cacao farmers continue to succeed at producing the world’s best fine cacao and fine chocolate.
Paul Williams, Director and Umpa Lumpa Rustler at Choc Amor says…..
“We are absolutely delighted to get not only four awards in the British Championships for our flavoured chocolate but to also win a coveted World Award for two of those products. This now takes our total number of awards won this year to 11 & the overall total to 28.
It’s a real honour as we are in a very small minority of British World Winners ( only 10 UK companies won a world award this year ). The International Chocolate Awards is affirmation that we are producing a quality product and helps establish us as one of Lancashire’s premier award winning chocolatiers.

A huge thank you to our team and to our customers for their continued support – we would never have got this far without you all!

Our story so far…
Choc Amor is a world award-winning, Lancashire based manufacturer, retailer & wholesaler of fiendishly good chocolate. Established in 2012 by husband and wife team Paul & Jacqui Williams, for the first 7 months our chocolate was made in our kitchen at home and sold from a small retail unit at Botany Bay Villages in Chorley and via local farmers markets & food fairs. Our vision was always to establish a local, recognizable brand with the emphasis on quality and flavour. Paul has a passion for food and creative cooking and this has had a huge influence on the chocolate we offer. We wanted something to make us stand out and we wanted our product to have a longer shelf life than truffles, but with all the flavour. Paul has worked obsessively to create a range of solid chocolate flavoured with oils and spices
and has gained a reputation for unusual taste sensations, many of which are now award winning.

Our chocolate is made in small batches and wherever possible our ingredients are natural & free from preservatives. Our house blend is a combination of Belgian couverture chocolate and Cacao Fino de Aroma from Colombia. The Colombian chocolate has fruity and flowery aromas with nutty malt notes, which distinguishes it from other cocoas in the world. Our Columbian suppliers meticulously select ingredients and have a huge focus on ethical sourcing & sustainability. We have progressively moved to larger facilities to allow the business to grow. Now based at Cedar Farm in Mawdesley, just 15 minutes from junction 27 off the M6, we have a fully equipped manufacturing studio and a retail shop which is fully stocked with our complete range of award winning chocolates.

Choc Amor is an exciting brand which is quickly building a reputation for passion, quality, innovation and imaginative flavours. We are now actively looking for new stockists of our product.
