Café Northcote – A Taste of the Future Apprentice Restaurant

1 March 2017

A new concept is bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting young chefs for a series of pop up evenings at Café Northcote.

Northcote’s talented apprentices will showcase their developing skills during six evenings spread over three months.

In teams they will create exciting menus and use their growing knowledge to combine flavours and offer a memorable evening for diners.

From the chefs to the front of house team, apprentices will be at the forefront of the events providing the highest standards of food, drink and service in the apprentice restaurant.

The project is entirely apprentice-led, offering the insight and experience of running a kitchen and restaurant, by organising, managing and delivering the series of events themselves.

Nigel Haworth, Northcote Chef Patron said:“This is a very exciting venture and the first time we’ve done anything like this. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the apprentices to show their enterprising and talents. They are controlling everything and will be focusing on the complexities of making the food, service and ambience special. The cooking, marketing and service is all down to them and I’m sure they’re going to do put everything into the nights to make them a great experience for the diners and themselves.”

Apprentice Dan Carson said: “We experience the beating heart of a Michelin-starred kitchen on a daily basis as Northcote apprentices, all with the mutual goal of becoming the best chefs we can be and play a part in the success of the Northcote brand.”

Each evening will consist of a bespoke five-course menu plus coffee with the option of a matched beer/ale or gin flight created by Northcote sommelier Alexandros Kitsos.

At £35 per person plus £15 for the beer or gin flight, the evenings represent excellent value for money while helping local charities and the apprentices.

Working in partnership with BKs Heroes, Blackburn Nightsafe and Blackburn Youth Zone, proceeds from each event will go towards the good causes as well as furthering education for the apprentices of Northcote.

The first two evenings take place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th March. The following evenings will be held on Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd April and in May on Friday 19th & Saturday 20th.

Early booking is encouraged to avoid disappointment and tables can be reserved by calling Café Northcote on 01254 260520.
