Whirlybird Beer Flies Out Of The Pumps

23 March 2017

Whirlybird ale, Bowland Brewery's special beer dedicated to raising money for the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA), is flying out of the pumps.

Said Andrew Warburton, director of the brewery based at Holmes Mill in Clitheroe: "Whirlybird is proving very popular and we are delighted to support the NWAA."

Now Bowland Brewery has announced a further fundraising effort for the NWAA – the Whirlybird Ball.

Andrew added: "The Whirlybird Ball, on Thursday May 4 in the Function Room at Holmes Milll, Clitheroe, will raise more money for the charity. A night of dining, drinking and entertainment, all in a good cause! See www.holmesmill.co.uk for ticket information."

Bowland Brewery's free-to-join Beer Club, which is open to everyone, got involved with a fundraising evening recently, featuring fun games and activities. The Beer Club offers year-round tastings and events for members – to join visit www.bowlandbrewery.com

The helicopter rescue service, which covers Lancashire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester and relies on charitable donations to survive, receives 10p for every pint of Whirlybird sold.

Andrew said: "Just the fuel to keep the helicopter flying costs £13,500 a month, so every penny we can raise will help this vital service."

Bowland Brewery also has a pub quiz available to publicans who sell the ale, including prizes provided by the brewery.

Andrew added: "We are looking forward to raising lots more money and having plenty of fun at the same time. Whether it's at the Beer Hall or in one of the many pubs stocking Bowland Ales, or at the Whirlybird Ball, every pint sold carries a donation."

Bowland Brewery is based at Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, a former textile mill which has been lovingly restored as a food, drink and hospitality hub in the heart of the Ribble Valley. It is part of the James' Places group with all venues sharing the same service values and ethos for beautiful surroundings with exceptional food and drink.
