University shortlisted for five student choice awards

7 March 2017

Edge Hill University has been shortlisted in an unprecedented five categories in this year’s WhatUni Student Choice Awards, including the prestigious University of the Year title.

Facing tough competition from 130 universities, Edge Hill has been shortlisted for University of the Year, Accommodation, Course and Lecturers, Student Support and Uni Facilities.

The awards represent the student voice, giving over 27,000 students the chance to have their say on universities across the UK.

Liam Owens, Director of Student Recruitment & Administration at Edge Hill, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted in the WhatUni awards and to be one of the very few institutions ranked by students themselves as a potential ‘University of the Year’.

“It is fantastic to see how positively our students view the University and the teaching, support and facilities that enable them to achieve their goals.

“Everything we do aims to provide an outstanding, full university experience and these shortlistings show that we are succeeding.”

Last year Edge Hill was shortlisted for its top facilities and leapt up the overall table to be named the 15th best university in the UK.

Marcella Collins, Managing Director UK, of Whatuni.com parent company Hotcourses Group, added: “One of the most common criticisms we hear from students is that it’s too difficult to navigate the HE landscape, so this has become our driving force.

“We present critical data to students in a way that’s easy for them to understand and helps them make life-changing educational choices."

The winners will be announced on 6 April at a ceremony in London. Follow the action on the night with the hashtag #WUSCA.
