Leighton Hall Opens its Doors to Littlies!

10 April 2017

Fans of history and nostalgia will be thrilled to know that there is only a couple of weeks until Leighton Hall opens its door to the public for the summer season.

Opening on Bank holiday Monday (1st May), Leighton Hall is the lived-in home of the Gillow furniture making family, with all the rooms regularly used by them and their friends. Therefore there are no roped of areas and tours are entertaining and informal. You are invited to sit on their sofa, take your place at the priceless dining table, climb the stairs and even have a tinkle on the grand piano. You can relax and really get involved.

Younger visitors haven’t been forgotten about either. Leighton is child friendly with places for muddy shoes, space to play and activities to keep the littlies entertained during house tours. Outside there’s plenty of open space for them to let off steam. Take a woodland walk, let them explore the tree face trail or dash about in the hungry caterpillar maze and play area.
During August children are invited to take part in a free teddy bear hunt around the house.

All visits include a guided house tour to see stunning pieces of furniture, paintings, Objets d’art, a birds of prey flying display (weather permitting) and access to the gardens and grounds.   There’s also time for refreshments in the charming tearooms.

2017 sees an enviable events calendar, including a Classic Car Rally, Motorcycle Hill Climb, and the hugely anticipated Shakespeare in the Garden. This year the alfresco production is “The Merry Wives of Windsor”.

Leighton Hall is open weekday afternoons (Tues – Fri 2pm – 5pm), May – September.  Admission Adults: £8.50, Concessions: £7.50, Children age 5 – 12, £5.50. For further information, please see www.leightonhall.co.uk for more details.
