A feast of food, travel and tourism experts gather to discuss the future of Lancashire food

Travel guru Alastair Sawday and Edwin Booth, CEO and Chairman of Booths, have been announced as the first speakers at the inaugural Taste Lancashire 2017 conference, led by Marketing Lancashire in partnership with the Department for International Trade.

Alastair Sawday and Edwin Booth will join renowned food writer and broadcaster Jay Rayner at the trade event at Holmes Mill, Clitheroe, on Wednesday 6th September, which promises to bring together leading lights of the UK food and tourism industry to discuss the county’s aim to position Lancashire as a must-visit food destination.

Alastair Sawday is the CEO of Sawday’s, the iconic and trusted British travel company. In the early nineties Alastair Sawday’s Tours led travel groups to the hidden delights of France, to B&Bs, farms, small privately-owned hotels meeting wonderful people along the way.  His expertise spread and today, through its website and books, Sawday’s represents special places in the UK & Europe.

Edwin Booth is the CEO and Chairman of Booths, a family owned, independent food and wine retailer with 29 stores across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. A proud Lancastrian with decades of experience celebrating the best of local food and drink, Edwin represents the fifth generation of the family that has operated the business since 1847.

Speaking ahead of the event, Edwin Booth said “Having entered the business immediately after school and worked solidly within food and drink retail ever since, I am delighted to be asked to speak at Taste Lancashire 17. Booths is always looking for the brightest and most delicious local produce for our shelves. Supporting and nurturing home grown food businesses is at the heart of what we do and I look forward to meeting many more at the conference.”
