UCLan up for 4 prizes in Nursing Times Awards

14 March 2018

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has been shortlisted for four prizes in this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.

In a record-breaking year for entries, UCLan has been shortlisted for the Nurse Education Provider of the Year (Pre-registration) award and in the Student Experience category for the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. In addition, midwifery student Alison Brindle (right) has been shortlisted in the Student Innovation in Practice and Student Midwife of the Year categories.

She said: “Just to be nominated is fantastic but to actually be shortlisted is amazing. I feel very proud that the work I do within UCLan Midwifery Society and the campaigns I have launched have been recognised as being worthy of an award.

“It would mean the world to win but I already feel like a winner just being shortlisted. To receive this kind of recognition means the work I have done has made a difference and making a difference to others is all I ever set out to do.”

The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at UCLan, Professor Nigel Harrison, commented: “The University is delighted to be shortlisted in four categories of the Student Nursing Times Awards.

“UCLan is recognised as a major provider of nursing, midwifery and allied health programmes and our reputation for providing an exceptional student experience, allied to established links with the health professions and high levels of graduate employment, continue to make UCLan a popular choice. We look forward to the awards ceremony in April.”

The big occasion will take place on Thursday 26 April and staff and students will be in the capital to represent the University on what promises to be a proud night for all involved.  The ceremony, which will take place in the heart of London at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, has been running since 2014 and celebrates the very best of the student nursing community.  The event is sponsored by UCLan as well as various other institutions and universities from all across the country.
