DJ Fresh and Imani set to rock the Switch-On Party

Chart topping DJ Fresh is to perform at this year’s Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On along with upcoming singer Imani.

They join a line-up which already includes The Vamps, Diversity, Fleur East, Fatman Scoop and Club MTV.

DJ Fresh shot to fame in recent years working with the likes of Sian Evans, Rita Ora and Sigala and is now he’s set to perform an explosive show here in Blackpool.

With over 2.5 million record sales, two number one singles and a further two top six singles to his name; he’s not resting on his reputation and continues to provide outstanding music collaborations with world renowned artists.

London born Imani Williams, rose to fame with her incredible voice when she featured on Sigala’s chart smash ‘Say You Do’ earlier this year. At just 16 she is a true pop star in the making and has already been compared to the likes of Rhianna and Ariana Grande.

She’s gone on to work with top writers and producers from all around the world and her debut solo single ‘Don’t need no money’  is set to be released later this month.

The Switch-On show takes place on the Tower Festival Headland on Friday 2 September. It is being delivered in association with Nickelodeon and Club MTV and will in part be directed by Ashley Banjo, choreographer and leader of the Britain’s Got Talent-winning dance group Diversity.

The Switch-On celebration will lead into a weekend of music and slime as Nickelodeon’s first UK SLIMEFEST takes place in the resort on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September.

The celebrity Switch-On star and other special guests will be confirmed soon.

Cllr Gillian Campbell, Deputy Leader of Blackpool Council, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to confirm DJ Fresh and Imani for our Blackpool Illuminations Friday night Switch-On celebration.

“There is a real mix to the line-up this year and we hope that everyone will enjoy the show,  Blackpool looks forward to welcoming these world renowned artists.”

The Friday night celebration will start with a “Blackpool Introduces” showcase featuring the best of talent from local venues including Verity Kinnon, James Edgar and Axi Wild, prior to the start of the main show. The line-up will also include Blackpool’s own Stacey McClean, formerly of spin-off band S Club 8 and special sets by Club MTV. More acts and details of the celebrity Switch-On star will be announced over the next few weeks.

As last year, the Switch-On event is free; people were invited to apply for the 20,000 wristbands before the 2nd August. The wristband ballot has now closed however you can still obtain a wristband to the show if you purchase a ticket to the Nickelodeon SLIMEFEST concerts at the Empress Ballroom on the 3rd September, tickets can be purchased from http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/  

The SLIMEFEST concerts at the Empress Ballroom are part of the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On Weekend. In addition to the two ticketed identical live shows, SLIMEFEST also features a free outdoor experience including character appearances and family activities on the Tower Festival Headland on both Saturday, 3rd and Sunday, 4th September.

Ticket prices for the live Nickelodeon SLIMEFEST shows begin at £18.75. Additional ticket packages include a guaranteed space at the Switch-On celebration night, admittance to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and to Nickelodeon Land.
