Join us for a night of glamour and entertainment

18 January 2017

An exotic evening of entertainment is set to make the 2017 Showzam! Carnival Ball one of the best yet.

Tickets are now on sale for the annual event which takes place on Saturday 11th February at the opulent Blackpool Tower Ballroom with sales already showing a wide reach for visitors from the North to the South of England making the trip to the resort.

One of the highlights of the resort’s social calendar, the event this year has a Mardi Gras theme and guests are encouraged to dress to impress, with the dress code sexy and glamorous. Or why not add a dash of the Mardi Gras colours of purple, yellow and gold and join us for a night to remember?

This year’s Carnival Ball will be compered by the charming, charismatic and effortlessly funny Pete Anderson who has entertained audiences around the world and is a meticulous engineer of audience reactions, so watch out!

Live music comes from a rabble of mischievous northerners, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, who made their debut appearance in resort during last year’s LightPool Festival.   Based on a New Orleans funeral band, with a brass band cacophony, those who follow the band just to enjoy the music are called the "second line", and seeing Mr Wilson’s is no sombre occasion. Join the 24-hour party people in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom as the band showcase their musical talent by paying homage to the diehard days 90s club culture.

We’ve even created a Carnival Ball playlist featuring some of the sounds Mr Wilson’s will be playing on the evening.  Take a listen and remind yourself of some of the 90s iconic tunes (Insert link).

The sounds continue with a DJ extravaganza from the lovely Broken Heart DJ Amber.  Retro-futuristic hip “The Broken Hearts” will be performing a fabulous DJ set! Amber Butchart will be performing solo, but we’re anticipating a whole lot of vintage gramophone glamour!

As ELLE magazine have discovered, these ‘she-jays’ are leading a new wave of female DJ groups who look and sound great”. The Broken Hearts are as well known for their striking visual style as for the music they spin on dancefloors across the globe with their heart-shaped hair, and using a telephone handset instead of headphones.

The line-up of entertainment also features world-renowned contortionist Pixie Le Knot, one of the most flexible contortionists in the UK, performing the most extreme and amazing backbends which very few other British contortionists are able to achieve. Pixie is currently performing contortion and acrobatic acts at venues all over the world.

With an impressive screen portfolio, we’re ready to be wowed by Pixie’s crazy stunts. She was a contortionist mentor on ITV’s ‘Get Your Act Together’, she was a motion capture artist in the recent ‘Jungle Book: Origins’ movie from Warner Bros., and most famously, she played Kayla in HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’. Check out the video below for a glimpse of her fantastic skills: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKXc-ERhNaQ

She will be joined by a thrilling programme of live performances from hoola-hooping wonder Polly Hoops, daredevil Spikey Will, fun and frolics with Felicity Footloose and death defying escapologist Rob Roy Collins.
