The hunt is on for the most talented vloggers in Preston

St George’s Shopping Centre is one of six UK regions taking part in a national competition to find Britain’s next top vlogging star, who, if successful could follow in the footsteps of YouTube celebrities like Tom Scott and Tanya Burr.

Preston will kick-start the search today, in which aspiring YouTube stars are being invited to showcase their talents and create new vlog content to be in with the chance of winning a career-changing prize and nationwide recognition.

With some YouTube stars attracting tens of millions of viewers and earning millions per year in sponsorship deals, DIY filmmaking is now a serious business.

The winner of Get Your Vlog On UK will receive a professional photoshoot and national ad campaign to promote their channel as well as a £1000 cash prize and trip for two to New York.

The competition will launch on 4th July and is running through six major shopping centres throughout the UK, to find and celebrate local talent within each region.

How to enter

• To take part, entrants will be asked to submit their channel URL through their local shopping centre website [http://www.stgeorgespreston.co.uk] to showcase their current successes and talents.

● Six entrants across the six regions will be selected for the national final with 12 entrants from across the six regions being recognised as local runners up.

● Over the course of three months, each of the six finalists will be given £100 produce monthly content to be hosted on their own YouTube channel, with the overall national winner selected by an independent panel of judges.

The winners will be selected by a panel of independent judges who will be looking for creativity, personality and the ability for the aspiring star to attract viewers.

General manager at St George’s Shopping Centre, Andrew Stringer, said: “The Get Your Vlog on UK is coming to Preston to find the next generation of YouTube talent. We want as many aspiring filmmakers as possible to get involved. This is a one off opportunity to showcase the amazing talent in our city and for one vlogger to win a career-changing prize. We wish all the entrants the best of luck!”

The other shopping centres taking part are CastleMall, Norwich; St Johns, Liverpool; The Galleries, Bristol; Eastgate, Basildon and MillGate, Bury.
