The Mall Blackburn is on the look our for new charity partnership

26 January 2016

The Mall Blackburn is on the hunt for a new local charity to lend support to throughout 2016.

Each year The Mall selects a Lancashire cause to be its official ‘Charity of the Year’ and works with them to generate awareness and funds as part of its Mall Cares programme.

In 2015 The Mall worked with Blackburn based Nightsafe and is in the process of finalising the grand total raised. Activities included giving the charity a unit free of charge, which it utilised as a shop and art gallery.

Other projects have included sponsoring food supplies at the annual Nightsafe Big Sleepout, which took place outside The Mall on the night the first storm of the winter season hit.

Blackburn Youth Zone, Inbetweenears and East Lancashire Hospice have also been supported through the ‘Charity of the Year’ initiative.

Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “Our work within the community is vitally important to us here at The Mall and we love working with new, inspirational people each year.

“There are so many deserving charities across Lancashire and it is always such a difficult decision to select just one.

“I would urge anyone that has exciting and creative fundraising ideas to get in touch.

“We’re really looking forward to making a difference to important causes and it is a great opportunity for any voluntary organisations to raise awareness and much needed funds whilst having fun along the way.”

Local organisations wanting to apply should contact [email protected] outlining how they would like to raise money by partnering with The Mall Blackburn and what the funds would be used for.

The closing date is midnight on Monday 29th February and the partnership will start in March 2016.
