Classic Transport on the Terrace

28 June 2016

On the 3rd July, Leighton Hall near Carnforth, plays host to Mark Woodward’s Classic Car and Bike Show.

Home of the Gillow furniture making family, the hall is steeped in history and heritage and the perfect backdrop for a vintage vehicle event such as this.

This fantastic day out, set against a backdrop of the Lakeland Fells is a chance to see transport from a by-gone era, displayed on the terrace at the front of the hall and in the parkland.

There will be displays of classic cars, bikes, commercial vehicles and classic Land Rovers, as well as trade stands, motor awards, and an auto jumble for anyone looking for a bargain or a rare discontinued part.  Enthusiastic exhibitors will be talking about their passions, and sharing stories of the golden age of motoring and there’s an arena and commentaries throughout the day. Add to that the chance to get up close to these wonderfully restored and much loved vehicles, this fun packed day out will get even the most keyed up of classic car enthusiasts into gear!

Suzie Reynolds, Owner of the Hall said “Mark Woodward’s shows are always well supported by exhibitors and visitors alike, and his name is synonymous with high calibre vintage events. We always look forward to welcoming him to Leighton.  It’s such a thrill to take in the smells and sounds of these beautiful cars and to see them parading through the parkland”.

During the event, Leighton Hall is open (for a small additional charge). Visitors are invited to take a guided house tour, examine priceless furniture, explore Leighton’s grounds and gardens and relax with tea served, how it should be, in proper tea cups.

With timeless transport on the terrace, a visit to Leighton Hall’s Classic Car Show is a quintessential English day out!

This is just one of 2 motoring events in Leighton’s calendar this year. The Leighton Hall Motorcycle Hill Climb takes place on 25th September. See www.leightonhall.co.uk for details.
